EXCELLENCE
|

Established in 1937, Escola
Americana do Rio de Janeiro is one of Latin America’s most respected
international teaching institutions. Click to see our History.
THREE DIPLOMAS
EARJ is the only school in Rio de Janeiro that offers three distinct
diplomas:
- The American Diploma for graduates who will go on to higher
education in the United States;
- The International Baccalaureate Diploma, an extremely challenging,
two year course of study recognized by universities worldwide,
and;
- The Brazilian Diploma, for students who will pursue undergraduate
studies in Brazil.
Graduates are accepted in top American, international and Brazilian
colleges and universities. 40% of our students opt for the IB diploma
and earn all three diplomas.
TWO LANGUAGES
All classes are taught in English with the exception of the Brazilian
Diploma Program requirements and Spanish and French foreign
language courses.
A UNIQUE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Escola Americana prepares students for the demands and challenges of
our rapidly changing global society.
- Each grade level has a Service Learning

creates opportunities for students to develop team building skills and
a sense of responsibility for themselves and the safety of others;
- The MuseOn provides students with an exploratory
learning space that features an Asian-style Shadow Puppet theater; a
planetarium; and a six-meter projection screen. A different theme
is featured every semester;
- Through Let the Cameras Roll our Lower , Middle and Upper School produce

teaching students to communicate in many languages and media;
- The Extracurricular Athletic Programs of
Escola Americana focus on the values of teamwork and sportsmanship by
emphasizing effort, improvement and fair play. Middle and Upper School
