We would like to welcome your child to second grade. We are looking forward to a challenging and interesting time together. Because you, as parents, are an essential part of our educational process, it will be important for us to maintain open communication. If you have questions or concerns at any time, please feel free to call or make an appointment.

You may call the Lower School office and leave a message with either Rosanne or Cristiane and we will make contact as soon as possible.

• The school agenda is an important form of communication through which you and your child can keep track of homework and special events. We ask that you review and sign the agenda daily. If you have any messages for your child’s teacher, please write them in the agenda. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with your child and we are looking forward to an enjoyable and productive school year.
• Birthday Parties? Birthdays are important celebrations and parents are welcome to send small amount of cake, cookies or brownies and soft drinks to school to be shared with the class. These celebrations will normally take place during brunch in order to preserve the academic portion of the day and we keep them small and simple.
• Homework? 20 minutes per day (Monday- Friday), including all subjects and Portuguese.
  Parents are required to initial their child’s agenda each evening, indicating that they are aware of the current assignments and have received enclosed notes regarding special events.
• Snacks? Second graders should bring a nutritious snack from home.
• Physical Education? Students must wear tennis shoes on the days they have PE.
• Backpack? Students should bring a backpack to school on a daily basis. This backpack should include the agenda, homework assignments, and library books.
