Dear Parents, We have planned an active quarter of learning which we are really excited about. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the themes and units of study for the 4th quarter, as below: Language Arts: Our theme is “Creative Solutions". The selections in this theme focus on characters and people who solve problems creatively. Math: This month we will be focusing on fractions and their uses, chance and probability. This unit has four main areas of focus: - to review fractions as parts of a whole, fractions on number lines, and uses of fractions - to guide students as they order fractions and find fractional parts of sets and regions - to provide practice identifying equivalent fractions - to review basic ideas of probability, comparing predicted and actual results, and guiding the application of fractions to chance experiments Social Studies: Our unit is "The Americas". This is a unit with a focus on leading students to an understanding of climate, people, environment, and culture of Brazil, The United States and Mexico.
