Social Studies Thru the knowledge we've been learning about Mesopotamia, Egypt, Incas, Aztecs and Mayas. Students compared similarities and differences between cultures today and long ago. Classes discusions included reasons for cultures to disapear and similar problems with cultures today. They identify and compare the caracteristics of the region,society,art, goverment, religion,Inventions, etc. The students learned how to use tools such as web path referrals, they can find at the library site. It offers info on details they need to accomplish their research work. Also last month they have had right to use United Streaming web site, an interactive site EARJ provides access to it.They all received their password and user name. |

Language Arts Ms Parrish’s class has been working on parts of speech, and Ms Moniques classes has been working on non fiction books, plus pars of a book. This Quarter all classes stared reading Hatchet, a book about a 13 year old boy who’s lost in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash. The main focal point in this book is to work the ability to make decisions. Every week there will be a quiz about 3 chapters of the book. |
 CELLS - Unit of Life |
Science In Science all classes are staring a new unit on cells, characteristics, functions and parts of animal cells and plant cells. Plus they are staring to understand the concept of systems, organs, organisms, tissues, unicellular and multicellular. Experiments are done in class in small groups. The children seem to enjoy hand on activities. Ms Carol also has shown the students how to see an instructional video on United Streaming. |
 FRACTIONS |
Math Ms. Carol and Ms Parrish have been working on problem solving skills with the students. Also thought the month they learned about Prime numbers and Composite numbers, followed by the beginning of Factorization and Prime factorization. The teachers handy differentiated methods to enhance the students’ eager to learn and level of curiosity. After solid understanding about the unit above they moved on to Common Factor and Greatest Common Factor. Next unit coming up will be fractions. |
