Carolina Cavaliere, Algebra 8, Geometry 8, Honors Algebra 8 & Intro to Algebra 8 Ms. Carolina Cavaliere was born in Rio de Janeiro and has lived in the city her whole life. She attended college at Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and has a college degree in Mathematics. She is currently at work on her master´s degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Before she came to EARJ, she taught at both public and private middle and high schools. Ms. Carolina chose to be a math teacher because she likes to solve challenging problems and puzzles. Although she has been a teacher for seven years, this is Ms. Carolina’s first year at EARJ. It seems to be a great fit for her as when she was attending courses to learn English, she wanted to be an English teacher and here at EA she gets to do both! Before going to college, Ms. Carolina did quite a bit of tap dance as a student and later teacher. As a result of her tap dancing, Ms. Carolina has traveled a lot taking her dancing students to presentations and dance festivals. In her free time Ms. Carolina likes to go to the movies, spend time with her family and friends, go to the beach and take dance classes.

Jason Wozniak, Social Studies 8 Historical & Contemporary Issues Mr. Jason Thomas Wozniak was born in Chicago, Illinois and has lived in Chicago, Kansas and now in Rio de Janeiro. He attained his degree in journalism from Kansas University and his master’s degree in education from The University of Illinois. This is his third year teaching 8th grade modern history and contemporary issues. Before teaching in the 8th grade he was the 5th grade language arts long term substitute. He chose social studies because he says that “only by understanding the past can we understand the present, and plan for the future.” He wants parents and students to know that his class is academically challenging, but rich in opportunities for intellectual growth. He is also the Service Learning Coordinator for EARJ. Mr. Jason has lots of hobbies; some of them are hiking, surfing and traveling with the smallest backpack possible. He loves teaching and loves his job. He also works with Núcleo de Estudo Filosófico da Infância at UERJ. Written by Felippo Leta |
