"CAMBIO VERDE" - GREEN EXCHANGE
The 8th Grade project consists of exchanging recyclable trash that EA community members bring for food. Middle School students trained community members to select, clean and separate the trash. So many workers at Escola Americana were enthusiastic about the project that a food drive is being held this coming week (May19 – May 23) to be sure that enough food is available for exchange.
Students in eighth grade were inspired by a project they saw in Curitiba during their Via Sapientia trip this year and wanted to make a difference here in Rio. The project that inspired the students' initiative, "Cambio Verde" (Green Exchange), offers poor people food in exchange for recyclable trash, therefore simultaneously helping the environment and the people.

So many workers at Escola Americana were enthusiastic about the project that a food drive is being held this coming week (May19 – May 23) to be sure that enough food is available for exchange. Any nonperishable food items (rice, beans, dry milk, oil, macaroni, etc.) will be greatly appreciated. Please drop off donations at the Middle School Office. We thank parents for encouraging their children to participate.
