EARJ OFFERS THE IB CURRICULUM
Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro (EARJ) is a fully authorized International Baccalaureate® Continuum school. The IB curriculum aims to deliver challenging, high quality programmes of international education. IB programmes are concerned with students’ social, emotional and physical well-being.
Primary Years Programme (PYP)
The IB PYP is focused on children aged 3 to 11, designed to inspire them to develop their individuality, autonomy and learning skills earlier than the regular curriculum.
Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The MYP has been designed as a coherent and comprehensive curriculum framework that provides academic challenges and develops students’ life skills from the ages of 11 to 16 years old.
Diploma Programme (DP)
Through the DP, we are able to develop students from ages 17 to 19 to have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge, flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically, study at least two languages, and excel in traditional academic subjects.
BARRA CAMPUS
The Barra Campus, established in 2014, is located in the heart of Barra da Tijuca neighborhood, surrounded by a pleasant residential area. We have a state-of-the-art 4 acres building, with modern installments and wide locations to comfortably accommodate its community. With over 500 students, the campus provides an array of facilities designed to enhance learning and overall student experience.

The Gávea Campus, established in 1971, spans 12 acres at the edge of Tijuca National Forest, offering a scenic view of Rio’s iconic landmarks such as Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Guanabara Bay, Sugar Loaf, and Christ the Redeemer. With over 800 students, the campus provides an array of facilities designed to enhance learning and overall student experience.
