NHS is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the purpose of which is to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. NHS is open to students in Grades 10-12. In addition to academic requirements, a candidate must consistently show good character as evidenced by an exemplary school disciplinary record. Leadership and service in school and community are also pillars of the organization and are reviewed for acceptance and continued membership. 
 

Mu Alpha Theta (ΜΑΘ) Mu Alpha Theta (ΜΑΘ) is an International mathematics honor society which partners with professional mathematics organizations. The organization’s purpose is the promotion of scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of, mathematics. At EARJ, our purpose is to increase interest in mathematics and help students see how important math is in their lives.
In addition to academic requirements, members must be high school students who have completed the equivalent of two years of college preparatory mathematics and have completed or are enrolled in a third year of college preparatory mathematics.

The French Honor Society (Société Honoraire de Français) is an organization that recognizes high school students for their exceptional achievements in the study of the French language and Francophone cultures. Members must maintain a 5 or higher (specific standards may apply) in their French courses, show consistent interest and participation in French language and culture activities, and demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and a willingness to lead and contribute to the school and broader community.

The Science National Honor Society (SNHS) The EARJ SNHS International Chapter was established in August 2024. SNHS members must maintain a 6 average in all sciences and a 5 average in all subjects. Members promote science awareness at EARJ through fairs, projects, web postings, organizing lectures and workshops, engaging in community service through classes and labs for children in our surrounding communities, and supporting EARJ students interested in science to grow with like-minded friends.

The Portuguese Honor Society focuses on motivating students to embrace Brazilian culture and the Portuguese language. Its main goals are to recognize students who have an outstanding achievement in Portuguese courses, promote workshops for students to prepare for ENEM/Vestibular and celebrate Brazilian culture through social events. Students are invited to join based on academic achievements in their Portuguese courses. 

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). Our mission is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish, to promote interest in Hispanic studies and to promote leadership, scholarship, service and character. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Chapter at EARJ is called the Capítulo Julio Cortázar. Students are invited to join based on service, character, leadership, and scholarship.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), established to recognize and encourage excellence in middle-level students. NJHS promotes the values of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. In addition to academic achievement, candidates must consistently demonstrate strong character, as shown by an exemplary disciplinary record. Leadership and service within the school and broader community are also essential pillars that are carefully considered for acceptance and continued membership.

The Thespian Honor Society is an organization that recognizes high school students for their exceptional achievements in theater arts. Members must demonstrate a strong commitment to the dramatic arts through active participation in school productions and theater-related activities, maintain a high standard of performance and dedication, and exemplify integrity, responsibility, and leadership both on and off the stage. The society honors students who contribute meaningfully to their school’s theater program and promote the value of the performing arts within the broader community.
