Summary Description

The MYP Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and development of the IB Middle Years Programme in Grades 6-10 at EARJ.  The Middle Years Programme (MYP Coordinator) works closely with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator and the Diploma Programme Coordinator to maintain a continuity of learning through all three academic programmes. In addition to working with the other IB Programme Coordinators, the MYP Coordinator works closely with the Upper School Principal and teachers to implement and develop the Middle Years Programme. Major areas of responsibility include overall programme development and the implementation and planning for professional development, including coaching and mentoring of teachers within the programme.

Responsbilities

  • Working directly with the Upper School Principal to carry out the implementation of the MYP.

  • Working collaboratively with the IB Programme Coordinators to ensure a continuum of learning throughout all grade levels

  • Working with teachers to ensure that they meet the curriculum and assessment requirements of the MYP.

  • Working with teachers in curriculum development and documentation.

  • Responsibility for monitoring the effective implementation of key and related concepts and global contexts in the curriculum.

  • Ensure that all regulations set by the IBO concerning programmes, procedures, and standards and practices are adhered to properly as laid out in “Principles to Practice” documents.

  •  Provide a focus on Approaches to Learning and Approaches to Teaching.

  • The position has a 50% released time from 2nd year onwards for other assignments which may include teaching.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred

  • Current teaching certification

  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience

  • Curriculum development experience

  • Leadership experience

  • Strong leadership abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Coaching and teacher supervision experience

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Understanding of the developmental and educational needs of children across the span of grades 6-10

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership and teaching experience in an IB environment is an asset

  • MYP teaching and curriculum development experience
